A to Z Guide to Selling More: F is for Fun

Having fun together is an important part of relationship building. So look for ways to increase the fun factor when you're making sales calls. Bring doughnuts. Sure it's a cliché, but people like them so why not?

Send a funny card to a client. Time it to arrive a day or two before your meeting. You'll accomplish three important things. First, the client knows you see them as a person. Second, we like people better when they make us smile. And third, sharing a joke with someone is a wonderful way to find common ground.

Bring the client a book—or maybe a pair of movie tickets—or something else that is inexpensive but interesting to them. Take them to lunch. Or bring lunch to the office.

People buy from people. We all buy more from the people we like and who we have fun with.
